Ph.D. Application Instruction Sheet

General Instructions for Candidates

  1. The application must be filled online only through the official portal.
  2. Ensure all documents are uploaded in PDF format unless otherwise specified.
  3. Fill in the application form with accurate personal, academic, and professional details.
  4. Upload individual PDF files for each qualification:
    • UG Degree in Law (Marksheets + Certificate)
    • LL.M. Degree (Marksheets + Certificate)
    • M.Phil Degree (if applicable)
    • UGC NET/JRF Certificate and Scorecard (if applicable)
  5. Upload a single PDF file containing all experience certificates, if applicable.
  6. Upload a recent passport-size photograph (JPG/PNG, max 500 KB).
  7. Upload a valid Government-issued ID proof (PDF: Aadhaar / Passport / Voter ID, max 2 MB).
  8. Choose only one specialization vertical:
    • AI, Data Protection and Technology Law
    • ESG, Carbon Markets and Sustainability
    • Construction Law, Contracts and Arbitration
  9. Prepare and upload:
    • A Statement of Purpose (Max 300 words)
    • A Research Proposal (Max 600 words)

  10. Submit the Declaration affirming the correctness of the information.
  11. Pay the Application Fee via the payment link provided on the portal. Enter the transaction reference number in the form.
  12. Review the Final Checklist before submission (see below).

Statement of Purpose (Maximum 300 Words)

Your Statement of Purpose (SoP) must reflect:

  • Your interest in the chosen research area
  • Your motivation for pursuing a Ph.D.
  • How your academic or professional background prepares you for doctoral research
  • What you hope to achieve through this research
  • Why you are applying to the School of Law, DAU

Formatting Instructions:

  • Word limit: Maximum 300 words
  • File format: PDF
  • File name: YourName_SoP.pdf

Research Proposal (Maximum 600 Words)

Your Research Proposal should present a concise yet clear summary of your research plan. Please include the following:

  1. Tentative Title of Research – A working title that reflects the proposed area of inquiry.
  2. Research Problem – Clearly define the central legal or regulatory issue your research seeks to address.
  3. Research Methodology – Outline the legal research methods and/or interdisciplinary approach you will use (e.g., doctrinal, empirical, comparative, case study).
  4. Key Research Questions – List 4- 5 research questions you will explore through your project.

Formatting Instructions:

  • Word limit: Maximum 600 words
  • Do not use AI tools to generate this proposal
  • File format: PDF
  • File name: YourName_ResearchProposal.pdf

Final Checklist Before Submission

  • Duly filled and signed application form
  • Statement of Purpose (PDF)
  • Research Proposal (PDF)
  • UG degree marksheets and certificate (PDF)
  • LL.M. degree marksheets and certificate (PDF)
