
Ms. Alisha Mehta is a seasoned dispute resolution professional with a distinguished background in litigation and arbitration. She embarked on her legal career as an Associate at the esteemed law firm – Wadia Ghandy & Co. Ms. Mehta was a part of Wadia Ghandy & Co.’s Dispute Resolution team in Bombay and Ahmedabad.
In this capacity, Ms. Mehta has advised and acted for prominent clients such as Deloitte, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Honda Cars India Limited, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited, and Piramal Finance Limited (formerly known as Piramal Capital & Housing Finance Limited), among others, in navigating complex commercial matters.
Ms. Mehta’s professional journey encompasses a wide array of contentious matters, including large-scale infrastructural arbitrations, high-stakes real estate litigations, insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings, and writ remedy proceedings.
Ms. Mehta has represented clients before various courts, judicial authorities, and statutory tribunals in Gujarat and Maharashtra, building a formidable presence in regional and national legal circles.
Beyond her courtroom advocacy, Ms. Mehta has played a pivotal role in strategic legal advisory by leveraging her deep understanding of substantive and procedural law to astutely shape case strategies with both foresight and legal precision.
Following four years of rigorous legal practice, Ms. Mehta elected to advance her academic and professional pursuits by undertaking a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with a concentration in Business Law at the University of Toronto on a full merit-based scholarship. Her academic endeavors focused intensively on International Commercial and Investor-State Arbitration, Advanced Contractual Interpretation, Commercial Litigation, Private International Law, Bankruptcy and Insolvency, and the Law of International Business and Finance Transactions.
During the course of her LL.M., Ms. Mehta also contributed to the academic community as a Teaching Assistant at the Toronto Metropolitan University. Ms. Mehta provided assistance in teaching students and evaluating their assignments for the ‘Legal Analysis in a Business Context’ course. The course used a Canadian competition law framework to enable students to learn legal analysis.
Thereafter, Ms. Mehta joined the litigation team of Lerners LLP, one of Toronto’s premier law firms. In her capacity as a summer student at Lerners LLP, she gained exposure to the litigation landscape in a transnational context.
