Mr. Ajay Thomas is an Independent Arbitrator and ADR Consultant with over two decades of experience in international arbitration, institutional development, and legal education. He joins the Dhirubhai Ambani University – School of Law as an Honorary Professor in the field of International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution.
Mr. Thomas previously served as Director and Founding Registrar of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) India, where he played a pivotal role in institution-building and advancing the arbitration ecosystem in India. His professional journey also includes senior positions at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA), where he contributed to strengthening international arbitration frameworks and best practices across jurisdictions.
He has served as National Correspondent for India to UNCITRAL CLOUT, and currently holds several leadership and advisory roles in arbitration bodies, including as Vice Chairman of the ICC India Arbitration Group. His contributions to legislative reform and policy development have been instrumental in shaping India’s evolving arbitration landscape.
A frequent conference speaker and educator, Mr. Thomas teaches courses on arbitration and ADR at the Indian Society of International Law (ISIL) and serves on multiple editorial boards and global arbitration panels. His deep expertise and engagement with international legal institutions bring a valuable global perspective to the Dhirubhai Ambani University – School of Law.
Through his role at the University, Mr. Thomas will help advance its mission of developing leaders in dispute resolution, legal governance, and international law, and contribute to the School’s growing emphasis on practice-driven, globally connected legal education.
