Master of Laws (LL.M.)

At DA-SoL, we offer two modes of the graduate experience, geared towards the student wishing to deepen their understanding of niche areas of law and expertise, as well as for the working professional desirous of keeping abreast of the latest legal developments, providing a capstone to years of knowledge and experience accumulated working in industry. These models are, respectively:

  1. LL.M. (Regular) for fresh law graduates.
  2. LL.M. (Blended) for working professionals

Regular LL.M.

The Regular LL.M. is a 2-year course, offering young professionals and students the opportunity to specialize in 5 industry-relevant, cutting-edge areas of law in a collegiate environment, under the guidance of industry leaders and top-of-the-class academic professionals.

Structure

The Regular LL.M. is divided into 4 semesters, as per the DA-SoL academic calendar.

The first year (Semester I & II) is inclusive of full-time intensive study, including 3 Primary/ Bedrock Courses, and 6 electives in niche areas of law the student wishes to pursue.

At the end of Year I, students will go for a compulsory 10-day global tour of legal centers in the EU (Geneva, Paris, Brussels and Hague) to acquire first-hand experience of global legal systems.*

Semester III of the course consists of students completing 4-month internships that the University shall assist in procuring, in pan-Asian and global markets so they may acquire insight and practical knowledge of industries they are to build their futures and careers in.

Semester IV of the course will find the students participating in legal clinics and specialized electives where they may apply the academic and professional knowledge they have acquired over the course of the program, and completing their dissertations as a final mark of their development into full-fledged professionals. Students will also be provided assistance by a placement programme to assist and ensure employment opportunities, either via interface with organizations where internships have been completed in Semester III, or by connecting students with open positions in top companies and firms nationwide and globally.

Blended LL.M.

Apart from the regular LL.M. course for full-time, residential students, we also offer a Blended LL.M. for those looking to keep themselves abreast of latest legal and industry developments. The 1-year Blended LL.M. course should be of particular interest for the best and brightest minds in the industry looking to find and hone an edge to keep them on top of their field, and will be tailored to the needs of working professionals.

The Blended LL.M. will allow professionals to pursue their graduate degree from homes or offices, and interact with faculty via robust virtual learning platforms and e-mail at times of their convenience. During this time, Blended LL.M. students shall only need to come to University in order to begin their courses on a face-to-face basis so they may interact with and engage in discussions with peers, familiarize themselves with faculty, make use of the University’s facilities for conducting research at their convenience and giving their end-of-semester examinations.

This Course, like the Regular LL.M., will taught under the auspices of those with graduate and doctoral degrees from the acme of the academic world, offering disparate legal standpoints from around the world including Ivy League Universities and other leading institutions such as the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, London School of Economics, New York University and the National University of Singapore.

Course Structure

Semester I will consist of 3 Bedrock/ Primary Courses (3 credits each) and 2 elective courses (2 credits each) consisting of subjects of the students choice.

Semester II will consist of 4 elective courses (2 credits each) and the dissertation (3 credits) on a topic of the students choice, selected and developed under the guidance of faculty in an area of law related to the LL.M. programme specialization.
